Internet Censorship Is SOPAthetic

On Being Creative

Dear Blogging Gods and Goddesses:

Thank you for sending this to me in my RSS feed many moons ago.  I starred it to come back to in times of need.  Today is a time of need.  The muse is very quiet today, but I think she is learning that being creative is easier said than done.  I am working on it.

Jan(e)

P.S.  Tomorrow I’ll be taking a break online (#6) to support the SOPA strike.  Now that’s creativity.

When I Get an Ear Worm, You Do Too.

As always, it is my pleasure.

Which Started the Whole Family Laughing

My Aunt posted this update on my Facebook wall today:

Your Maw Maw just told me the funniest story. Two brothers owned and worked at the LW store here in town. The single brother asked a customer out on a date. He picked her up; they went out and then had sex. He was leaving $2 on the night stand, and she said, “Well, if that’s all I’m worth I just as soon sew it up!” His reply,  ”Well, a few stitches wouldn’t hurt!” I laughed till I choked! She is in a very odd mood.

Maw Maw just turned 90.  She still has her mind and her health.  As far as her telling of this joke, I do not know whether to be horrified and curled in a fetal position or laughing hysterically and hoping I have a portion of her wittiness when I am that old.

Whatevah

I have an Asian friend with a brand new baby girl.  Auntie Jan(e) is so going to teach her to do this.

We Got Spirit. Yes, We Do.

The faculty at school has three spirit days next week … morale booster type of thing.  The students will likely be very entertained by the shenanigans.  First up will be 80′s Day.  Considering I lived through and survived the 80′s, I am not worried in the least about this one.  Do they still make Aqua Net?  Where are my hot rollers?  The second day will be devoted to crazy hair.  I have a couple of ideas for this one that I will keep secret for a GPOY post, but I am open to suggestions.  And, last but certainly not least, will be Dress Like a Student Day.  Yes, you read that correctly.  This is the one I need your help with because I refuse to dress like a hooker.  Does anyone know where I can get me one of these?

What Will You Do Today That Will Make You Proud Next Year?

Because I Love Someone with Asperger’s Syndrome

My Sweet Lord

I just discovered that George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” was the Number 1 single in the U.S. on the day I was born. What a great tune to celebrate the day I was expelled from Sybil’s uterus!

All kidding aside, I have always felt a special connection to this song.  While I have come to know myself as a free thinker when it comes to religion, I can appreciate the sentiment behind the lyrics.

You can go here to look up yours.

Feeling Good … Enough

I know these little quizamagig things are cheesy and a poor excuse for a blog post, but today was a less than perfect day. I woke up with stomach woes and came home from work with a headache that may or may not be a brain tumor, aneurysm, or both. So yeah, this made me smile and made me feel good …enough. Feel free to analyze whether it is accurate or not in my comments.

You Are Level-Headed and Trustworthy

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you.
You never give up, and you will succeed… even if it takes you a hundred tries.
You are rational enough to see every part of a problem. You are great at giving other people advice.

You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very charming… dangerously so. You have the potential to break a lot of hearts.
You know how what you want, how to get it, and that you will get it.
You have the power to rule the world. Let’s hope you’re a benevolent dictator!

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don’t stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless – and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You’re most comfortable when you’re far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.
Success comes rather easily for you… especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You’re a strong person.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you’re so lucky, you don’t really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You’re sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.
